The Native American and Colonial fusion in Rachel Roy's Fall 2008 collection is inspired, refreshing, and wearable. While I have never been a fan of excessive plumage, Roy's subtle use of it as a necklace or a pocket detail has won me over. The rich fall shades of pumpkins and merlots (Native American) with creams and blacks (Pilgrim) also remind me of the original Thanksgiving dinner in which Indian and Pilgrim came together to celebrate the possibilities of cultural acceptance.
