What I Wore: Uptown, Deconstructed

Military Jacket: Zara
Dress: Yigal Azrouel
Nude Leggings: Unknown
Knee Boots: Tod's

If you look closely at the dress, you'll notice that there are hundreds of little gold threads hanging from it. (You can't imagine how many times I heard someone say, "You have a thread hanging..." and then stop herself.) I like the contrast of the deconstructed element on a ladylike shape.

Here's a shot of the dress without the jacket:

And my trusty boots, which I've had for over six years. You can't see it from the picture, but there are zippers on both sides of the boot:

Love your neutral look. The Yigal Azrouel dress is beautiful. I think everyone want to see your face... :) and the Tod boots are perfect for your outfit.

I mean this is the highest compliment. All your outfits are what mother-in-laws all dream of.

Not crazy about the concept of this dress but it looks great on you.

LOL Brook! I have to say that I'm around teenagers all day long, so I have to keep my look clean and professional. Plus I think I'm naturally conservative, but I've been trying in small ways to get out of my comfort zone. Buying leather leggings for (next) fall will definitely be one way!

I have a military jacket that's been with me for two years now and has traveled quite a bit with me. I also have a Mossimo Supply army green sweatshirt but it's not full zip it's only around the neck/ chest area. And lastly, an army green Izod hoody. Yeah, I don't know why but I love army style wear. It provides the balance of good structured clothing but gets better looking with some frayed edges and wear and tear. My two year old jacket has a a patch that's getting threadbare in a specific spot because of my backpack rubbing it there repeatedly but I think it would look cool with a patch or something. It gives personality, individuality I think. Would that be in bad taste to cover up the spot with a patch of something that is in the shape of something I like or represents a place I've been to?

Oh and I meant to tell you your dress looks amazing on you and I love the jacket. The contrast of the structure and crisp white color the jacket with the frayed edges make for a wonderful look. I wish I had your abilities.

Amol--I definitely think a patch there would add personality to it. DIY is hot now in fashion. People are tired of copying looks straight from the runway, or wearing one designer from head to toe. People want individuality now--that's real style. Personalizing items make them more special.

On a side note, it's great to hear from you these days. I miss seeing you! What's happening with the college process?

I heard from my first three colleges and got into them. I'm relieved that I finally started to hear from places. I got into University of Connecticut, SUNY Albany with $4000 a year and Ithaca with $15000 a year. I'm waiting to hear from the other 12 that I applied to (and no that's not an exaggerated number I applied to 15 schools in total). Yeah, I may have applied to many but it just gives me options to choose from.
