A Leopard Can't Change Its Spots

Leopard prints are hot again for fall, and they come in an assortment of styles, colors, and price points. Cardigans are perhaps the easiest way to wear this trend--throw one over a black shift, jeans, or a pencil skirt.

Cropped Ruffle Flyaway Cardigan, $49.50 at Express

Crumpet Leopard-print Cashmere Cardigan, $350 at Net-a-porter

Two-tone Leopard-print Cardigan, $19.80 (also available in red) at Forever 21

White + Warren Leopard Cashmere Crew-neck Cardigan, $255 at Neiman Marcus

Tory Burch Ainsley Leopard-print Merino Wool Cardigan, $295 at Nordstrom

To celebrate my brother's job offer, my brother, husband, and I headed over to Blue Smoke (27th between Park and Lex) for some hearty BBQ. Although we didn't go to the lounge part of the restaurant, apparently it's also known for its soulful live jazz music.

The colorful, neon exterior with that retro feel

The art consisted of over-sized wooden boards decorated with sparkly mosaic tiles (the kid sitting under it eerily reminds me of James Franco; click to enlarge)

Overhanging tin (?) Christmas-y stars

Appetizer #1: Heirloom Tomatoes with Goat Cheese Fritters, Arugula, Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Aged Balsamic

Appetizer #2: Yellowfin Tuna Taco Trio

Entree #1: Kansas City Ribs. WARNING: Do not attempt to eat this on a first date!

Entree #2: Sliced Texas Beef Brisket with Mashed Potatoes and Crispy Onions

Hi Thumbelina!

In anticipation for the grand comeback of this trend, I bought a leopard peep toe last week!! I don't think I can carry this bold look as a top though so I will limit my involvement in this trend to "below eye level"! But anyone who can rock these in total confidence gets my instant admiration!! =)

Oh and pls tell your brother congrats on his new job and that he should treat his sis to a new pair of shoes with his 1st paycheck! ;-)

And my vote on the foodie pix: post, post, post!! How else can we strut our stuff but to go to these fabulous places and enjoy the food while others enjoy looking at our fab outfits! =)

Very happy to have known you here as well! I feel like we're already friends for years but it's really just been 3 weeks! Wonderful how fashion connects people!

I love bbq ribs!!! Haven't had those in a while. And I like looking at what others are eating...so yeah, more!

And I like the first cardi for its different flyaway style and the price.

Good morning Thumbelina.
An early morning here in Germany (6.30am) and your yummy food makes me hungry ;)
Can I order Appetizer #1 and 2, please? ;)
Thumbelina... for me... I always enjoy to take a look at food photos (when i´m not too hungry ;)..would be happy when you continue!
... the "warning" put a smile on my face and what a sweet idea to celebrate your brother´s joy offer!

From food to fashion:
I adore cardigans. As you already said they are so simple and cozy to wear.. simple throw one over!

Have a beautiful day!!!

Thanks for responding to my belt query chez moi! I was going to email you directly, because I like how you wear belts (wish that Burberry Harlech belt was still available) but then realized that I had more than a simple question to ask . . .

Food porn is JUST an amazing way to wind up a stressful week. :) I vote for yes! More food more food!

BTW, I wanted to invite you to an event I'm hosting downtown in September. Can you email me? dreamsequins (at) gmail! If you come, I'll cut off your head as per blog practice ;)

I just realized that sounded sort of violent. I meant-- I promise to edit out your head from pictures that are posted :)

Hey gorgeous, how was your week?
I hope all is well and you're spending a wonderful weekend so far.

Uuuuuuuuh, I'm late in commenting this week..... Spent very busy days, weeks and months with a (p.i.t.a.) project.... I'm glad it's done now.

Need the Sunday for recovering.... Low batteries.

Thumbelina, there is a little award waiting for you on my blog. I hope you like it, sweetheart!

Wishing you a gorgeous weekend!!!
