Get a Leg Up: Over-the-Knee Boots

Although thigh-high boots have been associated with women of the night and other scantily clad, morally questionable females, this seemingly daunting new fall accessory trend is actually very wearable--and done right, one needn't anticipate wanton cat calls by seedy men. The key is coverage: wear them with longer tunics/mini dresses, shorts with tights, and skinny pants/jeans/leggings. The extra layer of leather will keep you looking warm and chic in the upcoming chilly months. Personally, I think suede versions are less intimidating and more flexible; don't hesitate to wear a suede pair with your au courant leather shorts. Choose flat versions to lessen the sex appeal for more wearability.

Some High/Low Options:
!
1. Dolce Vita "Stud" OTK Boots, $355: These remind me of Chloe's starburst shoes from a few seasons back. You can kill two birds with one stone with these (studs and OTK boots).

2. Steve Madden Xcept Black Suede Boots, $299.95: The platform and heel on these add interest.

3. Chanel Lambskin Cap-toe Thigh-High "Paris-Moscou" Boots: These babies are on my wish list. (Actually, nearly everything from the Paris-Moscou line is on my wish list.) The decorated wedge heel is what makes these not only wearable but also very unique.

4. Guiseppe Zanotti Suede Platform Boots, $1,225: Yes, they're quite expensive, but you're getting your money's worth with Zanotti. His shoes are extremely well made, not to mention gorgeous and comfortable.

5. Guiseppe Zanotti OTK Croc-Embossed Boots, $1,225: I couldn't resist adding another pair of Zanottis. I'm a sucker for any animal skin, embossed or real.

!
Sorry for the lack of posts recently; this week was extremely busy (I had another out-of-town guest for the second week in a row), and I also caught a cold! Thankfully, I'm in the last stages of my cold.

I also want to thank Sofie from ModeDiktat and Kat from Mango Girl for their thoughtful and lovely blog awards and Grace from VitaMinn for kindly mentioning me on her fabulous blog. Thanks, ladies--I feel really honored!

Hi Thumbelina!

This post is so timely, it's like you read my mind! Been drooling over these Prada over-the-knee boots at Saks.com but for $1400, it's almost a mortgage's worth!!

Hope you get well soon! Lots of water and plenty of rest sometimes just do the trick!! =)

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

I think I'll just keep wearing the Manolos I've had for years. I love wearing them with skirts and going without tights.

Hey gorgeous. Oh, just recognized I need a new keyboard now. At least the "e" has given it up. and I neeeeeed it badly - especially for "hehe" ;)
how is the weekend so far?
oh my gosh! how amazing are the dolce vita boots?!?! love this brand very much, they're doing perfect looking fun shoes! don't want to start with zanotti... he is my king. he is designing shoes that fit TRUE TO SIZE, you can wear them perfectly always and for hours without a problem - and they're always having this very special something. YAY to the croc embossed boots.
actually i can't wait for autumn - and to start wearing all amazing cozy items and overknee boots!
wishing you a wonderful sunday, darling!
xoxo sofie

OTK boots are so hot for this fall! but you are also right that they can be tricky to style, but these gorgeous ladies got it perfect!

I am crazy for the two pairs of Giuseppe Zanotti boots! This guy knows how to design shoes! Now i am on a hunt for OTK boots! :)

I want a pair of thigh high boots so badly! I love all of these although I wouldn't wear anything thigh highed with heels haha, there's a flat suede one at Topshop that I'm saving up for & it's less than $200 :)

These pieces are stunning! I spied an amazing pair at Intermix the other day but they were a touch higher than my budget. Wait, did you say you got a pair yourself?! I hope to see a post with your new pair. Thanks for this post.

I HAD those top boots! They were vintage someone or other, were a kind of black suede/velvet - something synthetic that stretched but still looked like fine, flat black suede. I loved them, wore them for years & years. I think they finally gave way and I sadly parted with them. Couldn't even give them to charity, they were starting to shed little bits of black dust everywhere.

but they did have a great innings! : )

Ooh yes, I am loving this over the knee boot trend!!! My favorite pair? The Chanel as well! It's so elegant and streamlined... I can't even begin to imagine the cost of these babies. Sigh..
