Holey Macrame!

Macrame Tunic: Marni
Jeans: Levi's
Pumps: YSL

Although I initially wanted the dress version of this top (see below), I changed my mind and went for the top instead for more versatility. I've got a bad habit of buying cocktail-y dresses, which usually prompts an annoying but predictable response from the salesperson: "Going to an event?" I then resist the urge to roll my eyes and simply say, quite lamely, "Uhhhh, no." I finally realized that I need to buy more "day" items, as my closet is shockingly "night"-dominate. Does anybody else have this peculiar problem, or is it just me?

I have the same problem. Yikes.. So I'm also going to have to veer away from anything too dress that I may not be able to wear for day. On another hand, I lack day outfits. Sigh.

I love your blog and check it on a regular basis. It's very inspiring as I am in love with your feminine style.;)

Oyoyoy. Girlfriend, you'd better hope I never get within grabbing distance of your closet! I am kah-razy about that top. And yes, I too buy way more dress-up clothes than I should -- I have to force myself to buy day clothes, sometimes, and I've lost count of how many times I justified something by saying, "Well, I can dress it own with a pair of flats." Which never happens, of course. But the dressy stuff is just so much fun!!

It's really lovely. And you can make it as "day" or "evening" as you wish . . .

Dear Thumbelina,
thanks so much for your comment!! :-D
Very good decision to go for the MARNI top! It looks so stunning, even more than the dress.
I'm always very attracted to beautiful dresses first - but after a while I found out that I would rather purchase a set of top and skirt than going for a dress, maybe of reasons of versatility - but sometimes a top and matching skirt could look more fascinating than a dress version. They're giving other proportions than a dress does.
Again congrats to that terrific top, it's a real eyecatcher!

LOVE your Marni tunic! Great choice over the dress, as you'll get more wear out of it, and I totally hear you on your 'bad habit', I'm the same...

I love that top! It is so cute! I have probably the opposite problem, but I don't go to many night events, so it's ok.

I have the problem of having stuff probably more dressy (polos and tees with designs on them) that I use for school but usually a little much for school and end up feeling a little dressed considering it's just school

the dress would have been BANANAS! sigh. i buy alot of things for evening too. think it's because I hate my 9 to 5 environment. feel alive and like myself the minute I leave each day.

i read somewhere that the new creative director at kate spade always gets told that her daily wardrobe looks like what most people reserve for weddings. I love the idea of always looking so festive. and the idea of dressing for day as if you've got hot plans that night.

EVERYTHING I own is better suited for night. I completely empathize with your problem!! :) The Marni top is ammmmmmazing! I think you made the right choice in getting the top, although the dress is breathtaking too. I love, love, love IT!!! It's so whimsical and cute!!! I think it has to be one of my favorite pieces of yours ever!
