But It Looked So Good In The Photo...

I immediately fell in love with these chocolate leather shorts from Zara, but regrettably refrained from purchasing it for the following reasons:

1. Poor Sizing: It comes in only two sizes: small and medium, and the small fits like a large or an extra large.

2. No Belt: It doesn't come with the belt in the photo, nor could it be found in the belt section.

3. Fit: After thinking that maybe it only needs a belt to give that "paper bag" effect, I realized it looked terrible no matter how I styled/wore it. I could be wearing a potato sack (and yes, I did see the Project Runway episode about potato sacks) and look less ridiculous.

Alas...if anyone knows of a better fitting alternative, I'm all ears.

i used to love ZARA but now i find that their quality has dropped and i have cut down my shopping in ZARA. Probabaly it's because my body proportion is odd or what, their clothings do not look good on me anymore.

I love the idea of these, but I've mostly given up on Zara. Like little fish, I find the quality really disappointing (I know, it's cheap, it's fast fashion, that's fine, I just don't want to wear it) and the sizing!!! Good grief!! Everything is teeeeeeeny-tiiiiiiny.

Hi Miss Thumbelina Fashionista from NYC ;)
Thanks for lovely comment! It took me directly to your blog and what a lovely surprise to see you also did a new post! The Zara shorts look stunning in the photo, so very ChloĆ© and it´s such a pity they do not sell it with the belt incl. (and a "hello to Zara"..: Why?) WIthout the belt the shorts are not the same..

Thumbelina, I have only the Balenciaga weekender in a kind of blue-grey color. I love to take the bag with me when travelling. My sister owned a Balenciaga city bag a few years ago and it´s her very beloved bag. I love to see it on her but when I tried the bag I always had in the past the feeling it´s not "me".
I saw in Paris (on a sunday through the shopping window) a pink Balenciaga: I would choose another color but the shape looked lovely as it was a little bit bigger than the city bag. Guess what... i will try to upload the photo so you can see the bag, hopefully. It´s the bag on the right side (wall).

Ok... here we go ;):

It really looks like it needs that belt to make any kind of look happen.

Ha! Great title ; )

I don't have a specific alternative apart from a suggestion: go for fabric, like linen or silk. I'm just not a fan of leather in general as clothing: I just don't get it (also, the cow factor: I'm now thinking that if I buy any new shoes/boots, I'd love to find good leather alternatives. I think it's so cool what Stella is doing with faux leather materials.

I actually have or had a pair of similar brown silk shorts somewhere that I bought at a sample sale, a million years ago in NY.

I bet if you asked the girl in the shoot she'd say she couldn't wait to get them. I mean think about it: shorts. Warm weather. Leather. Skin. Not very comfortable.

I love Zara but haven't been in a branch for a while. We've got a ton of branches here and each is different. They tend to stock by what the customers demand, so ask for what you want. They'll report back to HQ & ibecause their factories are in Spain, they can produce small runs. It's a fascinating way to run retail. It's like many small boutiques, only global.

They say never to start all your paragraphs with 'I' and I've just done a series of them. Well just came to say hi. I hear NY's due for a big snowstorm, it even made the news here. Hope to see you this summer!! xoxo

Sorry to hear about the poor ZARA experience and that you didn't find the pants in your size (xxs then, refering to ZARA's sizing in these pair of leather shorts...)!
But maybe a sign....?
No real recommendations here as I'm not a supporter of the leather shorts look.... :-S (The best I can say about these is that I like how it looks in the picture, but have seen women here wearing it and they looked always gruesome, not flattering at all.)

?:-S

xxxxxxx, s.

Wow those shorts are killer! I have to admit I don't bother going into Zara anymore- everything is either too big or overpriced to me. That is a bummer on the sizing- why would it only come in 2 sizes?!!!

Hey Thumbie! I narrowed it down to a Balenciaga but the Chanel is a must too! Although my sister is telling me that with a Chanel jumbo going for almost 3K already, might as well save that and jump straight to a Birkin. Yes, I am dreaming!!

Enjoy the rest of the Super Bowl! I know you're watching... or at least the hubby is!! ;)

Happy Monday, Thumbelina!

I´m already back home from Paris ;)... but from what I know the temperatures all over Europe are very cold and more snow is expect to come during the next days..

Have a joyful and sunny day!

Hey Thumbie hope you're well, I know it's not your field of work but are you having much to do with NY fashion week? How's the mood there?

I was thinking of you - I can't remember how many times I've seen these shorts in magazines & style sections of newspapers.. they're definitely the leather shorts of choice for editors. Haven't yet spotted anyone in the street wearing them, tho. Did you end up getting them?

Hope you're well & staying WARM. xox

The shorts DO look amazing in the photo! Too bad they're not the same in real life! I find that often happens to me unfortunately :( Will let you know if I ever see something comparable!

Ahh, i didn't even have the chance to see the real deal yet. Are they in store already? It reminds me of the one worn by Miloslova Duma sometimes ago. I agreed with u that sometimes (infact most of the times), lookbook/catalogue could be very deceiving. But i think i would no doubt grab it if i happen to see one.
Hope u are well! :)
