CFDA/Vogue Design Editions at Gap

The Display at the 54th and 5th Avenue Gap store

If you haven't heard, Gap is currently featuring a drool-worthy collection from Alexander Wang, Vena Cava, and Albertus Swanepoel (known for his hats), winners of the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund awards. Like a devoted fashionista, I arrived twenty minutes early to get my hands on the collection. Surprisingly, the line was quite small, and as I got there, I glimpsed for the second time in under a week the immaculate Anna Wintour as she said goodbye to Alexander Wang. Normally shy around celebrities, I channeled my chutzpah and asked for a shot with the adorable designer. He was quite gracious!

I'm on the left, but I cropped myself out of this photo:

The Vena Cava girls (Lisa Mayock and Sophie Buhai) were also uber sweet:

I went ga-ga over these whimsical khaki pants from Vena Cava:

Some detail shots of the pants:

Notice the black zipper at the bottom:

Which do you prefer--plain or belted?

If you can't access a Gap store, buy these lovelies online. Alexander Wang's jackets, shorts, and khaki pants are also quite adorable, as are Albertus Swanepoel's hats. (I purchased the large floppy hat for sunny days at the park.) These designs are bringing khaki back!

  1. you look so great in those vena cava dresses! i am so tempted to buy one now, but i have one of the original havasu dresses so it might be a little redundant...

  5. Diabolina--The sizing is generally true to size, so don't go below your normal size (Gap, Banana, etc. generally run large, but I needed my actual size for these goodies). They also had sizes 0,1,and 2!

Goldenmeans--I, too, have the original dress you mentioned, but I love the ease and style of these. The one I have is silk, long, and spaghetti-strapped, so it's really different from these. And you can't go wrong with the price tag!

  6. What are joyful & wonderfuly refreshing dresses on you! Definitely I vote for without belts. Vena Cava dress should keep streamy one-piece line & zip front point.

  9. Why'd you crop yourself? Put yourself back in. You look amazing with belts on.

  10. Ahhhhh in love!! Definitely going to check it out! I can't wait to see A Wang's take on Gap. I'm digging the Vena Cava dress belted though it looks amazing both ways. My fave is the khaki pants!! So cute... makes me want to take a Sharpie and draw all over my pants :)

  11. Oh, dear. That dress is going to interfere with the No Buy...

  12. Both dresses look great, with or without belts. They look quite casual without the belts and very pulled together, uptown, with the belts. If I were you, I'd wear them with belts, though you can pull them both off without, if you so choose.
I just bought a dress (that I plan to wear with belt and boots - still chilly where I am) and a hat, yay!

  17. Oh my goodness! I arrived at that location at 10:45 and everybody was GONE! I had been hoping to meet Alex Wang and the Vena Cava girls!

  18. Love the dresses! Can't believe you took a pic of Alexander Wang! I liked the 1st dress belted (although it looks gorgeous without as well). Lucky you! :)

  19. I love both the dresses with the belts since the belt in each breaks the dress up. Even though the second one has the cinching, the belt provides texture and color contrast.

  20. I like both vena cava dresses with the belt. Also those girls have a studio in Brooklyn right? I see them around my subway stop sometimes. Always very stylish.
